Vehicle lifter gang busted, stolen vehicles worth of Rs 2 cr recovered

Jammu, Sept 25: Police claimed to have arrested two high end vehicles lifter gang on Wednesday and recovered stolen vehicles worth of Rs 2 crore 6 lakhs form their possession.
According to the police statement, on September 17, Raj Kumar resident of Mandrian tehsil Maira Mandrian had lodged a written report at Police Station Akhnoor with regard to theft of his motor cycle no. JK02AU-4032 (Passion PRO) which was parked near Neelkanth Clinic Akhnoor.
Acting on the complaint, a case FIR No. 215/2019 under section 379 RPC was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation started.
During the investigation, one suspect namely Tajuddin alias Guddu resident of Meghwal Mathia Police Station Ramnagar district Betia (Bihar) at present Rani Talab Digiana, Jammu was arrested under section 54 CrPC, who during sustained interrogation confessed his involvement in theft of said motorcycle. Apart from this, he divulged about the number of stolen high-end vehicles from across the country mainly from Delhi NCR and latter sold them in Jammu and Kashmir.
Subsequently, the involvement of one Roshan Lal resident of Serh Tehsil Akhnoor was also made out in the instant case who has been arrested. Upon the disclosure of arrested accused persons, the potential racket has been unearthed with the recovery of 13 high end vehicles like fortuners, XUV, Innova, Breza and more from different parts of Jammu, the approximate cost of recovered vehicle is RS 2 crores, 6 lacs.
The accused persons supported by a gang of thieves from Chandigarh and Punjab lifted these vehicles and supplied to them and after changing of essential vehicle details like engine number/chassis number, registration number and disposing them of in J&K with altered essential vehicle details in J&K. There may be some more stolen vehicles from outside state and have been sold to consumers in the state, investigation in the said case is going on.
The recovered vehicles were Fortuner No. DN09J-2691, Fortuner bearing regd. No. PBO-249, Fortuner No. JK21D-5151, XUV-500 bearing regd. no. MH-02EE-3942, Innova JK08C-3232, Innova JK08C-3232 (Recovered from Bihar, on way), Innova JK11/1146, Innova JK11-3533, Vittara Breza Vehicle bearing regd. no. HR26DD-0610, Vitara Breza (Diesel) JK02CC-0163 (red colour), One Baleno white colour, Baleno number JK02CB-1814 (Blue colour), Baleno (Blue colour) JK02BC-9965, Original Engine of stolen Baleno DL-8CAU-2362 and Motor cycle Passion Pro bearing regd. No. JK02AU-4042
Efforts are being made to arrest the fugitive conduits belonging to other states mainly Punjab who are part of this vehicle lifting and further selling them in J&K.
