Awareness programme held on "Plastic Waste management"

Jammu, Sept 25: The Directorate of Rural Development Jammu in collaboration with Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology, Chennai organised a one day awareness programme on Plastic Waste Management, the other day.
Lalit Guglani, Director and Head CIPET, CSTS Aurangabad, P.P. Singh, Manager CIPET, CSTS Amritsar and Dr. Irfan Ahmad Mir, Senior Technical Officer, CIPET-IPT Lakhnow were the resource persons in the programme.
The programme was attended by Sudershan Kumar, Director Rural Development, Jammu, all Assistant Commissioners (Development) and District Panchayat Officers of Jammu Division besides Block Development Officers, Sarpanchs and members of Self Help Groups.
The Resource persons raised awareness among the participants about on various aspects of Plastic waste management. The topics included positive attributes of plastics & waste management, Plastics & environment myths and realities, responsible use of Plastics, No littering, responsibilities of general citizens for proper disposal of plastic carry bags among others.
The Resource Persons responded satisfactorily to the queries of the participants in the special interaction session of the programme.
Later, certificates of participation were distributed among the participants jointly by Director Rural Development and Director and Head CIPET, CSTS Aurangabad.
The programme concluded with presentation of vote of thanks by Joginder Singh Rai, Joint Director (Adm) Rural Development.
