| Five-wicket win for JU XI in Cricket | | Prof Pran Malhotra Cricket | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 8 University of Jammu (JU) XI defeated Kashmir Cricket Club (KCC) by five-wicket to enter the quarter-finals of Prof Pran Nath Malhotra Cricket Tournament organized by Jammu wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today. Earlier, KCC bowled out for 132 runs in 34.5 overs of the 40 overs match after the side was put into bat by JU XI by winning the toss. In reply, JU XI chased the total making 134 runs in mere 22.4 overs for the loss of five wickets. Vivek Singh remained the top scorer from KCC with 41-ball 45 runs including eight boundries while Sidharth Sharma contributed 12 runs to the total. From JU XI, Pawan claimed three wickets while Ashwani and Ajeet Pal shared two each. Batting second, JU XI hardly face any difficulty in overhauling the KCC total in 22.3 overs with five wickets in hand. Samiullah made unbeaten 40 runs off 36 balls. Ajeet Pal Singh (not ut 18) and Vimarsh Kaw (18) also played well. Abhimanyu and Aijaz took two wickets each from KCC while Sidharth bagged one. Brij Mohan Sharma and S H Malik were umpires in today’s match while B B Verma and Raghav Verma were scorers. Madan Mohan Sharma was observers in this match. |
