| Industrial Exhibition to commence from September 12 at Kashmir Haat | | Department of Information to be nodal agency | | SRINAGAR, August 31 – Arrangements for holding this years’ Industrial Exhibition at Kashmir Haat Srinagar (Nomaish-Ghah) were finalized at a high level meeting held here today under the Chairmanship of Industries Minister Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Mr. Basharat Ahmad Commissioner Secretary Science & Technology, DIG Kashmir, SSP Kashmir, SSP Security, heads of various department including department of Industries Mr. Jeet Lal Gupta participated in the meeting.
The meeting decided that exhibition which commence from 12th of September 2006 at 5.P.M. with its inauguration by Chief Minister Mr. Gulam Nabi Azad the duration of exhibition will be for 12 days from 12th of September to 23rd of September 2006. Business hours have been fixed between 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. whereas general exhibition will be opened for public from 4 P.M. to 8.30 daily.
The Directorate of handicrafts would maintain Urban Haat, sanitation arrangements would be made by Srinagar Municipal Corporation while as the Information and Public Relation Department would be the nodal department for arranging cultural programme and all organization like Doordarshan, Radio Kashmir and Cultural Academy wishing to participate in cultural bonanza would consult and finalize such programme with Information Department.
Matters pertaining to illumination of Kashmir Haat, parking facilities, amusement and recreational programme, security arrangements, supply of portable drinking water and electricity, refreshment for general public, allotment of stalls for display of exhibits, medical facilities etc were also discussed in detail.
Addressing the meeting, Minister for Industries and Power, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora highlighted the importance of such exhibitions and said that besides providing good opportunity to the local traders and artisans to showcase their production specialties for market expansion such exhibitions also provide for recreation, amusement and cultural programmes depicting local heritages and traditions for general visitors.
Acknowledge the role of Information Department for arranging high class sufiyana last year in the Haat attracting thousands of sufiyana lovers, Mr. Joara directed that all That all cultural and media related programme should be sole Department of Information and Public Relations which shall be Nodal agency responsibility for all such activities and other departments or this concern should consult Information Department for incorporating these programme.
He directed for exploring the possibilities of making arrangements for fire dive amusement programme to add attraction to the exhibitions.
Giving details of various arrangements and facilities for holding the exhibition, the Director Industries, Mr. Jeet Lal Gupta elaborated every item of the agenda to get nod of the meeting and the chairman. He said that the list of allotment of stalls to the participating departments would be issued soon. He appealed the departmental heads to make the exhibition yet another big success this year by showcasing the achievements of the government under various sectors in a befitting and beautiful manner.
