| MP, Governor, inaugurates health mela at Dangarpora Sopore | | Rs.100 cr being spent under NRHM during this fiscal in the state: Mangat | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | June 8 In the first ever four days rural Health Mela organized in village Dangarpora Sopore under NRHM nearly 4000 patients were provided treatment today on the opening day. The general medicine, surgical and gynae out patient departments received maximum patients today. 250 X-rays, 72 USG, 20 minor surgeries were also conducted while 20 patients were admitted for day care on the opening day. All surgical procedures wherever required would be conducted by the specialists at SDH Sopore. The camp has wide ranging facilities including medical, surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry, psychiatry, ENT, Orthopedic, NSV, diagnostic and pathology laboratory. The health mela evoked tremendous response despite the population busy in paddy plantation. The mela first of its kind in the district has been organized by district Health Society Baramulla. All modern diagnostic and treatment facilities with, services of 50 specialist medicos, 150 para-medicos and other necessary staff, free medicines worth Rs 8 lakh have been kept available for the ailing visitors of the area in the mela. On the demand of people the period of mela was extended by one day by the Health Minister. The 4-day health mela, first of its kind in the 18 years of insurgency, was inaugurated by Governor of Madhya Pradesh Dr. Balram Jakhar. Minister for Health and Medical Education Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister of State for Health Peer Mohammad Hussain, Chairman Handicrafts Development Corporation and MLA Sopore Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Secretary Health and Medical Education K. B. Jandial, District Development Commissioner Barammula. Baseer Ahmad Khan, Director Health Services Kashmir Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad and other senior officers of health department were present on the occasion. Addressing the large gathering on the occasion, Governor Madhya Pradesh said that Kashmiri people are peace loving and have always stood for strengthening the bonds of brotherhood, amity, and communal harmony across the state. He said peace was must for all-round development of the society adding it was endeavour of government of both state and centre governments to restore complete peace, progress and tranquility of the state. Appreciating the role of J&K Government for up gradation of basic facilities to the people of the state, he said that J&K was marching fast towards prosperity under all sectors. Dr. Jakhar said that Kashmir was famous for its natural beauty and hospitality all over the world adding that “if there is heaven on the earth it is in Kashmir”. He said that J&K has a great tourism potential and hailed the steps taken by the Azad led government for development and identifying new tourist destinations in the state. He called upon the medical fraternity to work with sincerity and missionary spirit for the welfare of mankind. Health Minister while addressing the gathering said that NRHM had made a significant headway in the state during last two years. He said over Rs 57.77 crore were spent on the Mission during 2007-08 while more than 100 crore being spent during current year in the state. He said the work on up gradation of 200 bedded hospitals in districts and 100 bedded hospital in tehsils would be completed by next year. Referring to the achievements registered under NRHM in district Baramulla, Health Minister said that Rs 3.32 crore have been incurred under this programme during last fiscal while as Rs 2.10 crore are being spent during current fiscal in the district. He said to provide health education and safe delivery facilities to pregnant mothers of the district 1350 ASHS have been engaged and Rs 40.60 lakh incurred on their trainings and remuneration. He said under the programme 33 assistant surgeons, 34 ISM doctors and 33 pharmists have been engaged in the district. Minister of State for Health Peer Mohammad Hussain in his address said that state government has taken all its endeavours to revamp and rejuvenate the health sector. He said a massive health infrastructure building has been initiated on fast track in the state. Chairman Handicrafts Development Corporation who also addressed the gathering threw light on the achievements registered by Azad led government in the state. |
