| Militant and Trooper were killed in Kangan and Qazigund | | | Srinagar, August 31: Three militants and a trooper were killed during two different encounters at Kangan and Qazigund, while as unidentified gun men shot dead a young divorcee at Dangiwacha Baramulla and a police personnel at Sopore. Meanwhile a landmine was defused a Bijbehara. Divulging details police sources told KNS that after receiving information about possible movement of a group of militants, troopers of 24 RR ambushed on the banks of Sindh Nallah at Bonibagh Kangan. Troopers challenged two militants while trying to cross over Sindh Nallah and immediately militants and troopers got engaged into a fierce encounter that resulted in killing of two LeT militants Abu Zarar alias Zaheer Hamid alias Abu Gagar R/O Pakistan and Abu Musaib R/O Faisalabad Pakistan and a trooper of 24 RR Sultan Singh bearing Belt No:15481089.The recovery of 2 AK 47 rifles and huge cache of ammunition from the possession of slain militants is being claimed. In yet another incident, troopers of 24 RR, sleuths of SOG Ganderbal and CRPF 158 BN killed a Hizb militant identified as Bilal Ahmed R/O Pakistan during a joint operation in Gagangeer forest area lying at a distance of 50 kilometers from Kangan. Meanwhile an unidentified militant was killed in an encounter between troopers of 49 RR and the militants, when troopers laid a siege around Varalkund area in Qazigund Anantnag during which militants got engaged into an encounter with troopers of 24 RR. Two unidentified militants barged into the house of one late Mohd Sultan Wagay during the intervening night of August 30 and 31and fired upon his 28 year old daughter Haseena Akhter at Udoosa in Dangiwacha Rafiabad area of Baramulla district. It has been learnt that Haseena has been divorced by her husbands few months back following which she was living in her parental house. The reasons of her killing could not be ascertained. In yet another similar incident unidentified gunmen shot dead a police personnel of 7IRP Bashir Ahmed bearing belt no:106 at the main gate of Sub District Hospital Sopore. Meanwhile a road opening party of army spotted a landmine at Sangam Bijbehara in the wee hours on Thursday following which bomb disposal squad of police was summoned and movement of vehicular traffic was stopped on the road. The squad defused the mine and traffic was restored on the road.
