| Natrang stages “EH Jammu EH” | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 8 Balwant Thakur’s political satire “EH Jammu EH” (Dogri)- this is Jammu, staged here today in Natrang’, regular weekly theatre series ’Sunday Theatre’ at Natrang Studio theatre, written and directed by Balwant Thakur, the play has been designed to abstract from mirrors the shabby socio-economic-political and cultural picture of Jammu. This play has already been staged over fifty times and each time new issues relating to Jammu are depicted through EH Jammu EH. A strong punch on the latest political fashions, decaying moral values, rule of mediocrity rate race foe materials and intellectual corruption has been beautifully portrayed in the play. The play opens with the emergence of a spineless creature claiming to be leader of Jammu. He glorifies his lucrative hollow slogans for Jammu and the art of changing colors like chameleon and claims to have trained generation to carry the legacy. The caricature of Jammu leadership shown through this spineless creature symbolically unveils various moments where Jammu one after the other lost its identity pride and glory. This follows the rule of mediocrity in which intellect by a majority of mediocres has shown being insulted and isolated. This hard hitting satire has been woven by the director in an unconvotational manner where over twenty different sequences have been shown to depict various aspects of Jammu life. On one seems to have spared and the play is an eye-opener for everyone. “With the elections drawing near such kind of theatre will attain much of the importance provided it gives voile to the voiceless Jammuities” said the director Balwant Thakur at the conclusion of the show. He further emphasized that it is the high time that such a powerful medium like theatre demonstrate its strength. The music of the play was composed by noted music director Suraj Singh. The actors who put life to this hard hitting theatrical missile included Pawan Verma, Mohit Sharma, Gaurav Jamwal, Rohit Verma, Ankush Lakhnotra, Inder pal Singh, Mohd. Yasin, Rahul Singh and Mayank Bakshi. The lights were designed and executed by Suraj Ganjoo, the release added. |
