| Cong snubs PDP on CBMs | | ‘Crude canards against Azad’s recall’ | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 8 The Congress today snubbed the Peoples Democratic Party for claiming credit of trans-Line of Control bus service as it said that the regions parties have no role in taking decisions which run beyond boundaries of the country. A senior party leader also said that canards are being spread against Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad that he was being recalled to New Delhi. He said that Azad’s growing popularity and his full control of political scene has frustrated the rivals and out of frustration they are spreading rumours against him. Without naming the Peoples Democratic Party, the PCC Vice President and Minister for Social Welfare Abdul Ghani Vakil said that some local parties were claiming for restoration of cross LOC links which is far from the reality. He said that it was the prerogative of the central leadership, adding that the Congress-led UPA Government deserves all appreciation for this historic initiative. He ruled out role of regional parties in opening of cross LOC links and said that it was because of present central leadership that Indo-Pak relations got fostered and CBMs boosted. Maintaining that those getting frustrated due to rising popularity of Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad are voicing rumors for his calling back to the centre and said that there was no such move. He said that such rumors were unfounded and baseless. He said that Mr. Azad was vigorously working on the agenda of peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir and would not leave the agenda halfway. He said that under Azad’s leadership the state was touching the targets one after another at developmental front. He made a mention of implementation of Roshni Scheme, Financial Commission, eradication of corruption, establishment of new administrative units, degree colleges and said that these are aimed at making Jammu and Kashmir a model state. He sought people’s cooperation for transforming the pro-people policies of Azad-led government into action. Vakil said that by the end of this month, recruitment of 13,500 Anganwari Workers and Helpers would be completed and after that 6000 additional Anganwari Centres would be set up in the hitherto uncovered areas under phase III assuring employment for 12000 females. |
