| Sikh organizations threaten stir, boycott polls | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 9 Various Sikh organizations in the state headed by Guru Manyo Granth Society J&K have threatened to launch stir against the present government, if it fails to address the genuine demands of the community. In a joint statement issued here today, the Sikhs have threatened to boycott the upcoming assembly elections in the state, if their genuine and just demands were not fulfilled. In a resolution the Sikh organizations have said that the successive state and central governments have failed to redress the genuine grievances of the community held these responsible for marginalizing the community. They also alleged said that the community is being treated as ‘third class citizens’ of the country and their demands are being ignored. The Sikhs have accused the present Chief Minister and his predecessor for playing dirty politics with the community by not giving them their due share and ignoring them with false promises. The Sikhs are demanding 10 percent reservation in all government departments, besides reservations in government and government sponsored educational institutes. |
