Jammu, Oct 5: The J&K State Pollution Control Board today released poster highlighting the hazards or the single use plastic on the environment. The poster was released by Chairman J&K State Pollution Control Board Suresh Kumar Chugh, in presence of Member Secretary B.M. Sharma, Regional Director, Jammu Dr. Syed Nadeem Hussain, Divisional Officers and the SPCB staff.
The Chairman impressed upon the officers/officials of PCB to spread awareness against use of Single Use of Plastic among the stakeholders of society. Posters were provided to the officers for further distribution among the members of civil society, students of schools and colleges and Government Offices.
It is pertinent to mention that J&K is one of the few states in India to have separate legal frame work to tackle the menace of single use of plastic. The Government also vide SRO 356 in year 2018 has banned use of plastic water bottles in Government Offices. |
