Why Hullaballo on abrogation of Article 370
10/5/2019 10:11:22 PM
Omkar Dattatray

For good, article 370 of the Indian constitution is now history as it was repealed by a lawful resolution of the Indian Parliament on August 5, 2019. Article 370 was the most controversial provision and it is the genesis of all trouble in Kashmir.
Militancy, terrorism, separatism and the feeling of alienation or the off- springs of article 370.Now that the historical wrong was rectified by scrapping the most undesirable provisions of article 370, it has paved way for the fuller integration of the sensitive boarder state of J&K with India. Since the parliament has also passed an extra- ordinary bill for the re-organization of the J&K state, so J&K has been bifurcated into two union territories of J&K and Ladakh.
The decision to re- organize is a measure of far reaching ramifications. The union territory status to J&K and Ladakh is a bold and timely decision of the union government of Modi 2.0.
Thus Modi government has in the very 100 days of its rule enacted a historical feat thus gave a death blow to the forces of mayhem, separatism and militancy.
This is the reason that some people thrive on militancy in Kashmir or crying wolf on the repealing of the controversial article 370. Doing away of article 370 will lead to economic, social and political development as the article was an obstacle in the way of development of J&K. It was a greatest hurdle in the progress and prosperity of J&K and its people.
It was a limitation on the developmental landscape as the investors Indian and foreign where reluctant to invest in erstwhile J&K state as it occupied a special status and position and no outsider could purchase immovable property in J&K. Thus there was no industrial development and the youth of state deprived of gainful employment.
The root cause of this unemployment and economic backwardness is the article 370. It was about 70 yrs ago that the article was added to the constitution of India at the insistence of first PM Pt. Nehru.
This article created a sense of mistrust between the people of J&K and the rest of India. Article 370 was the cause of all alienation of J&K's people. It was wall of mistrust, distrust and difference. It is so good that sooner or later this artificial and superficial wall of hatred was destroyed by the Modi govt.. But one wonders as to why a great hue and cry is being created by some vested interests and by the three ruling clans of J&K. Self imposed band and lockout by Kashmiris is very unfortunate and this is because the militants have issued threats to the shopkeepers and businessmen in Kashmir. It was necessary and in the interest of the people of Kashmir to impose article 144 to protect the life, limb and respect of kashmiris. Kashmiris were made to believe by the political masters that article 370 is the guarantee of their culture, language, kashmiriyat and their status and dignity which is erroneous and faulty. The truth is that kashmiryat which implies kashmiri culture, religious co-existence and dignity of life of the kashmiris does not require the outside crutches of article 370 and the like. Kashmiri culture or what is appropriately called kashmiryat is everlasting and does not require and need article 370 to keep it standing. Rather kashmiriyat is everlasting, evergreen and ever fresh.
No diginity and self respect of kashmiris will be at stake by repealing of article 370 and this is a false narrative being created by the political satraps of J&K. Rather the dignity, self respect, identity, language and culture of the people of J&K and Ladakh will be safeguarded and will get a boost.
It is only these rulers of J&K and their dynastic hegemony and monopoly which is threatened by scrapping article 370. while the common kashmiri will be benefitted in more than one way. The article 370 as it stood today was shallow, hollow, redundant, obsolete, undesirable and what not and so its repeal is in the best interest of the people of J&K and the India. The common kashmiri will not be harmed by deleting of article 370 in any way and it is only the political masters of J&K read Kashmir who are at the receiving end. Since it is at the behest of kashmiri rulers. Since 1950 that many amendments have been enacted in article 370 and many central laws have been made applicable to J&K.
Isn't it the kashmiri political masters that have played their role in the past about seventy years in making this article shallow? Again isn't the kashmiri rulers who have played their part in changing the nomenclature of Sadr - i.e- RIYASAT and Wazir -i.e-Azam to governor and CM respectively.
Again isn't these very families and rulers who have played their part in making the Election commission of India and supreme court of India applicable in J&K . Yes article 370 which was discriminatory and against the article 14 and 21 of the constitution of India had to go as it was illegal , wide and discriminatory in itself. One wonders why there is unnecessary hue and cry for a shallow and superficial article which was made an article of faith by the kashmiri rulers for the safety of their coveated seats. Otherwise the article robbed kashmiris of the Arabs and khrabs of many sent by Delhi but even then kept them backward.
