| Several associations oppose paid darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 9 A joint meeting of all hotels and lodges association, Jammu Paratyan Vikas Mandal, shopkeepers association general bus stand Jammu and tourist trades employees federation, held here today under the chairmanship of Inderjeet Khajuria, sharply criticized Mata Vaishno Devi shrine board for introducing the scheme for out of turn darshan of the diety in the cave shrine of goddess, on payment of fees. Describing the scheme as commercialization of the holy pilgrimage, hurting the sentiments of the devotees, the representatives of the devotees, the representatives of trade bodies connected with tourism and pilgrimage have appealed to the state governor S.K. Sinha, who is the ex officio chairman in this regard, taking in view the sensitivities and sentiments of the people at large in the state in the country. As per a release, reminding Sinha that the people of Jammu at large, including the trade organizations connected with the tourism and pilgrimage, have always supported him as chairman of Shri Amarnath shrine board against all impediments placed in the moves taken by him to promote Sri Amarnath Yatra in Kashmir, the leaders advised the chairman of the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine board to not open a second front against his ill advice and unimaginative move of issuing priority slips against payment by all devotees for visiting Mata’s darbar.
