| CCI holds emergency meeting | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 9 In an emergency meeting chaired by Ram Sahai, President Chamber of Commerce and Industry, members took the stock of indefinite Chaka jam call as given by state wide transporters. As per a release, members opined that in spite of all the problems being faced by the public. The call gained wide support because it is being felt that the problems of transporters are also genuine as against various hikes in petroleum products since last three years the government has not addressed their grievances and no tangible steps have been taken by the authorities to redress their genuine problems and demands. He further said that now because of this strike people are facing lot of inconvience and problems as being faced lot of inconvience and problems as being the peak season of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi yatra, tourist season, Khir bhawani mela and ensuing Baba Amarnath Yatra, the tourists and yatris are facing unbearable torcher for no fault of theirs. Office goers and service people working in the business establishments etc. are finding a lot of hurdles and difficulties. It was further pointed out that the strike is allowed to prolong it is likely to stop the total supply line thus creating the shortage and scarcity of essential commodities in the market. Sahai urged the transport minister and the chief minister to immediately start result oriented negotiations with the striking transporters lest the situation goes out of control and take some ugly turn, the release added. |
