| Martyrs race held at Nyoma | | | Early Times Reporter Leh | June 9 Member parliament (MP) Thupstan Tsewang flagged off a long distance Marathon race at Nyoma today which was organized jointly by education department and Anley sporting club. About 110 students in the age group of 19 and 14 years participated in it. This is the first marathon held at Nyoma at an elevation of 13,800 feet above the sea level. Appreciating the endeavors of the students in participating in such a marathon, that two at the highest hebetate place in ladakh. Chhewandg suggested that the student should focus more attraction toward sports besides their studies. MP said, extra curricular activities not only improve physical and mind power but also inculcate in them a spirit of competitiveness and unity and integration. The zonal education officer Nyoma Sonam Angehok while giving a brief of marathon said that students of one higher secondary school two high schools and three middle schools of Nyoma block participated in the marathon. Other present on the occasion were executive councilor, health Dorje Mutup, executive councilor consumer affairs and prize distribution Stanzin delex, councilor Saspol, Tscring Anagdus, councilor Nyoma, Tsering Norboo, senior LTF member Gy. Lobzang Nangtak and block level officer. |
