Cabinet clears transfers, promotions

• Srinivas, Kotwal, Anjum, Farooq made IGPs
• Shafi Dar is new controller BPEE

The state Cabinet which met in Srinagar this morning under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad approved a slew of promotions, transfers and postings in civil administration and Police. However, the expected lot of promotions and transfers was not cleared by the Cabinet as this affair remained ‘selective’.
According to an official spokesman citing the Cabinet decision, the Commissioner of Civil Military Liaison, MK Mohanty has been appointed as Transport Commissioner. The spokesman said that Mohanty has been posted as Transport Commissioner Vice P. S. Gill. Mohanty shall continue to hold the charge of Commissioner Civil Military Liaison in addition to his own duties till further orders. P. S. Gill has been posted as Director General Youth Services and Sports which post has been upgraded and declared equivalent in status and responsibility to the post of DGP.
The Cabinet also approved the posting of Ms. Tanveer Jahan as Secretary to Government Cooperative Department and posting of Mr. Ravi Thusoo as Secretary to Government Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department. They were Secretaries in the Agriculture and Labour Departments respectively Mr. Ravinder Gupta Director Youth Services and Sports has been deputed as Secretary J&K State Sports Council on full time basis, he was holding additional charge of this post.
The Cabinet also approved the promotion of IPS officers Dr. B. Srinivas, Ravinder Kotwal, Mohammad Amin Anjum and Farooq Ahmad IPS officers to the rank of IGP in Supertime Scale of Rs.18400-500-22400.
Cabinet also approved promotion of Mr. Rauf-ul-Hassan to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police in the Supertime Scale of 16400-450-20000. Cabinet also approved place of Ms. Manju Rashid in the selection grade of Rs.14300-400-18300
Consequently, B. Srinivasan on promotion has been posted as Inspector General Operation (North Kashmir) to be headquartered at Baramulla. Mr. Ravinder Kotwal on promotion has been posted as Inspector General Police Telecommunication/FSL. Mr. M. A. Anjum on promotion has been posted as Inspector General Railway J&K. Mr. Farooq Ahmad on promotion has been posted as Managing Director Police Housing Corporation. Mr. Pankaj Sexana has been posted as DIG CID, Jammu. Mr. M. S. Salaria DIG CID Jammu has been posted as DIG Administration PHQ and Mr. Yoginder Koul DIG SSG has been posted as DIG Crime J&K.
Irfan appointed as VC LAWDA
Meanwhile, Irfan Yasin, Managing Director, JKI has been transferred and posted as Vice Chairman Lakes and Waterways Development Authority on deputation basis, relieving Deputy Commissioner Srinagar of the additional charge.
Government has also appointed Mr. Mohammad Shafi Dar Incharge Principal Government Degree College Beerwah as Controller of Examinations, J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examination in place of Dr. Tariq Ahmad Kawoosa, Principal Government Amar Singh College Srinagar.
