| Khajuria condemns UPA Govt. for hiking prices of petroleum products | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 10 Condemning the Congress led UPA Government at the Centre for hiking prices of petroleum products and LPG, State BJP President Ashok Khajuria today said that this abnormal hike has not only evoked protests across the country but also led to the transporters’ strike in Jammu and Kashmir, thus adding to the woes of the daily commuters and pilgrims. He said it is disturbing that Congress-led government in the state, which knew that the transporters were planning an indefinite strike in the entire state to protest the steep hike in the price of petroleum products, did not take timely action to discuss the whole issue with the transporters in order to resolve the issue amicably. Khajuria in a statement issued here today alleged that the Congress-led government in the state has miserably failed to take cognizance of the hardships of the daily commuters and pilgrims and it is this inflexibility on part of the government which has not only put the entire life out of gear but also adversely affected every one in the state. The BJP chief said there exists no government worth its name in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and added those at the helm of affairs are simply indulging in corrupt practices to mint money and enjoy comforts at the cost of the public exchequer. He said the state government must mend its ways and end the ongoing transporters’ strike so that the hardships of the common man, daily commuters and pilgrims are mitigated and things turn normal across the state. He also urged the transporters to refashion their whole approach to their problem taking into consideration the interests of general public, which is already suffering on account of the soaring prices and fast rising inflation. |
