| Govt taking measures to strengthen Panchayats | | |

Jammu, Oct 10: In order to strengthen the Panchayats at grass root level ahead of 2nd tier of elections to Block Development Councils, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir had started training it's officials to train the Panches and Sarpanches beside the employees of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department so that they can carry forward the various developmental schemes upto the grass root level so that the people could get maximum benefits of the schemes that had never reach upto the poor people in rural areas.
In this connection one day training course was imparted to master trainers of the RDD Department with regard to Gram Panchayat Development Program (GPDP) and Halqa Panchayat Development Program (HPDP). The main aim and objective of the Government initiative is to formulate the people's plan, discussion on various parameters on Mission Antyodaya, to discuss constitution of Biodiversity Management committees at Panchayat level and their role and responsibility and to aware the people about the role of Ward Majlis (Ward Sabha) & Halqa Majlis (Gram Sabha) in preparation of GPDP, implementation and monitoring of GPDP covering 21 Government departments who had to work in close coordination for welfare of the poor people of rural areas through Panchayats. |
