| Arrangements for Amarnath Yatra finalized | | | Early Times Reporter Anantnag | June 10 To review the arrangements being made for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra commencing from June 18, the District Development Commissioner convened a meeting of district administration today. The meeting discussed and decided that sufficient boarding, lodging, sanitation, medical aid and security arrangements would be made at various camps of Yatra at Nunvan, Chandanwadi, Sheshnag, Panjtarni and Holy Cave. The meeting decided that Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution department would stock 1460 quintal rice, 306 quintal sugar, 91000 liters of kerosene and 3000 filled cooking gas cylinders while Forest department would make 5387 quintals of firewood available for the yatris. Besides, Health authorities are setting up medical aid camps at all yatra camps equipped with generic and life saving drugs and oxygen cylinders. The PHE, PDD, R&B and Pahalgam Development Authority is arranging for adequate water and power supply during the yatra period, besides maintaining proper sanitation and cleanliness at camps and yatra routes. The Department of Information and Public Relations has also geared up its men and machinery at all the camps for the convenience of yatries. It was given out that transport arrangements for Pahalgam to Chandanwadi and from Chandanwadi to Holy Cave have also been put in place. The rent fixation was also discussed and it was decided that a Palanquin ride would cost Rs. 11000, labour for load carrying would have to be paid Rs. 1500 and a load carrying or rider carrying horse would cost Rs. 2800. The meeting also decided to set up a joint control room to be manned by the concerned units of district administration for the convenience of yatries. |
