| Embryo transfer technology being introduced in J&K | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 10 With the objective of increasing the production of quality wool and mutton in the state, the sheep husbandry department is a first of its kind effort is going to introduce Embryo transfer technology in the state and as a first step global tenders have been invited got import of frozen Embryos of corriedale Rambouiilet and Dorper breeds of sheep. This was the revealed in a meeting of officers of the department R.K. Thassu here topday, which was chaired by secretary animal/ sheep husbandry department. The meeting was further apprised that 300 Corriedale, 200 Rambouiilet and 400 Dorper Embryos are to be imported which in turn shall be implanted in the sheep in government farm for genetic improvement. The secretary emphasized that the breeding policy should be specific as per agro climatic conditions of each belt for better results. He further stressed to adopt strict and transparent policy for purchase of medicines as per requirement and to make all possible efforts to provide diagnostic facilities, proper health cover and breeding facilities to the live stock of the sheep and goat rearing community. Dr. H.S. Raina while giving a resume of the working of the department told that mutton development project is being implemented in the plain border belts of district Jammu, Kathua and rajouri. The goat development project for development and conservation of Kaghani goat and introduction of boer goat and beetal strain goat also being implemented he added. |
