Jammu | June 10
Sangarsh, a movement for justice, equality, peace, prosperity and brotherhood today demanded resignation from Prof Amitabh Matoo Vice Chancellor University of Jammu on moral grounds for what it called ‘degradation of educational standard in the institution and also in failing to implement the academic calendar’
Jointly addressing media persons here today Ranjit Sharma Research Scholar, Vikrant Sharma, Former Secretary Students Cultural Council JU, Krishan Dev Singh, Research Scholar, Suresh Kumar, Advisor Students Cultural Council JU alleged that the VC’s much talked about claims of making the University global have proved hollow and the institution has failed to implement its academic calendar. ‘Institution without having basic academic calendar is just like a body without soul’, these leaders said.
They claimed that it would have been milestone achievement for Prof. Mattoo if he had introduced and implemented academic calendar as he came from Jawahar Lal Nehru (JNU) University..
These leaders said that it is irony that in many departments it took more than eight months in declaration of results and more than six months in re-evaluation process which has shattered the rhythm of academic standards. They claimed that in many cases the result of re-evaluation was declared after the Bi-annual examinations took place and due to this student lost their faith in the system. In many cases 30 to 40 marks were increased in re-evaluation which raised many questions on the checking process of the answers sheets.
