Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 10 Making their presence felt, Jammu district boys today lifted both under-17 and under-14 trophies in the Divisional level inter-district football tournament organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at MA Stadium, here today. In the under-17 final, Jammu defeated Rajouri by three goals to nil. Rahul Sharma and Gautam Mehra helped Jammu take an unbeatable 2-0 lead at the end of first half of the match. Later, after the breather Sahil added another goal to make it a 3-0 win. Earlier, in the semi-finals, played today, Jammu beat Poonch 3-0 while Rajouri outplayed Udhampur 3-1. Jammu boys also won the under-14 title trouncing district Poonch 2-0. Dimple scored both the goals for Jammu in either half of the match. Before the start of the match both the sides were introduced with Assistant Director DYSS, Ashok Kumar. In the under-14 semi-finals, played today, Poonch trounced Kathua by a solitary goal and Jammu blanked Rajouri 5-0. In the finals and prize distribution function that took place in the afternoon, Deputy Director, DYSS, Madan Lal was chief guest. Assistant Director, Ashok Kumar presided over the concluding function. Prominent among others present were Inderjeet Kour (district officer Kathua), R C Vaid, Raj Kumar, B K Tikoo, Rajesh Dhar, Sanjay Raina, Chanchal Kour, Ramesh Pandit, Veena Tikoo and Sarita Padha. |
