| 8-wkt win for National Club | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 10 With experienced cricketers to its side, National Cricket Club (NCC) registered a comprehensive eight-wicket win over Reasi District XI on way to the quarterfinals in the ongoing Prof Pran Nath Malhotra Cricket Tournament at GGM Science College hostel ground here. Senior Ranji cricketer, Kavaljeet Singh and Rohit Bhat hit fine half centuries helping NCC to overhaul the Reasi XI total of 155 runs in 27.5 overs for the loss of two wickets. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Reasi District XI bowled out for 155 runs in 37 overs of the 40 overs match. Imtyaz played matured innings of 60 runs including six hits to the fence for Reasi XI. Surinder Sharma and Bhanu were other main contributors with 21 and 23 runs respectively. From NCC, Shafqat Baba was most successful bowler who took four wickets for 21 runs in eight overs. Deepak Sharma, Amit Baloria and Nitin Mehra shared two wickets each. In reply, NCC attained the target of 156 runs with eight wickets in hand sparing 12.1 overs of their innings. First class cricketer, Kamaljeet Singh made 64-ball 59 runs studded with seven boundaries. Rohit Bhat played equally good innings of 59 (off 80 balls, 8x4) runs. Munish Dogra contributed 14 runs. Gourav Dogra and Rasid Ahmed took one wicket each from Reasi XI. For his excellent bowling, Shafqat Baba was adjudged man of the match. Today’s pre-quarterfinal match was officiated by Brij Mohan Sharma and S H Malik while Raghav Verma maintained the score. Gianeshwar Sharma acted as observer. |
