| Colleges release first cut off lists for fresh admissions | | | Munish Gupta Jammu | June 10 The first list of the candidates selected for admission in different streams in BA/B Sc/B Com Part-I for the session 2008-09, was released today by all the Government Degree Colleges. The highest merit was registered in Computer Applications subjects at GGM Science College with 75.17 percent cut off. Other streams, in which the cut off merit for admission was above 50 percent, included Medical subjects at GCW Parade, GCW Gandhi Nagar, and the combination of Physics; Electronics; Maths at GGM Science College. At SPMR College of Commerce, merit went upto 89.3 percent with 46.4 percent cut off. At MAM College, Arts stream recorded maximum merit of 90.2 percent, while cut off stood at 40.17 percent. On the other hand, Sciences recorded a maximum of 96.4 and cut off recorded at 45 percent. It is to mention that 582 admissions have been made today against the total seats of 750 in Arts, while 300 names have been declared in Sciences against the total seats of 450. At GGM Science College, maximum merit in Computer- Electronics combination went up to 86.5 percent, while cut off was recorded at 75.17 percent. Geology and Geography, maximum 80.83 percent and cut off was at 68.17 percent. Medical stream recorded maximum of 86.25 percent, which slide to the minimum of 45.17 percent. In Physics, Chemistry and Maths combination maximum was recorded at 92 percent, while it went down to 54.17 percent. Computer along with Physics, Electronics and Maths combination recorded maximum at 86.5 percent, which went down at 75.17 percent. Cut off in all subjects at GCW Parade was higher than 50 percent while the highest merit was registered in Commerce stream with 91.9 percent while the cut off stood up to 57 percent. In Arts, the cut off was 50 percent (max 85.33 percent) while for Medical and Non-Medical subjects, cut off was 60 and 53 percent (highest at 90 and 85.6 percent), respectively. In Commerce separate cut off lists were released, one for the candidates of PCM background and other for the same stream. At GCW Gandhi Nagar, cut off in Medical and Food Sciences was 64 and 68 percent respectively, while the subjects such as Non-Medical, Arts, Statistics, Home Science and Geography registered 45, 44, 55, 45 and 60 percent, cut off respectively. Max in medical and non-medical recorded at 97.83 and 86.27 percent respectively. In Boys College Udhampur, maximum merit in arts was 71 percent while the cut off stood up to 40 percent. In commerce stream, maximum merit was recorded up to 80.33 percent while cut off was 46.66 percent. In medical the highest merit was 86.60 percent while the cut off stood up to 64.33 percent. In non-medical, maximum merit went upto 77 percent and remains lowest at 43.6 percent. At Boys College Kathua, the merit was at 92.4 percent in medical stream, while the minimum was recorded at 51.87 percent. In non-medical, maximum merit recorded 89.2 percent, while the cut off was at 45.6 percent. Meanwhile, commerce and arts stream recorded maximum at 89.20 and 81.22 respectively, while minimum went up to 36.27 and 40.27 percent respectively. Meanwhile, the colleges will declare the second merit list on June 14, while the admission of the selected candidates will start from tomorrow with June 13 as the last date. |
