| Tulmulla being developed as model village | | Mula Ram, Qazi Afzal, Hussain visit Khirbhawani, interact with devotees | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | June 11 Minister for Rural Development Mula Ram today visited Tulmulla and paid obeisance to Mata Raginya on the occasion of Khirbhawani mela. A large number of devotees, especially Kashmiri Pandit brethren, who thronged to participate in the annual mela and pay obeisance, also met the Minister. The devotees were received with rousing reception by local Muslim brethren. Mela was presenting a scene of Hindu, Muslim and Sikh unity which is the hallmark of the State. The Minister reviewed arrangements being made by administration and had a round of stalls set up for the purpose. District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Abdul Majeed Khanday informed the Minister that stalls of fresh flowers and Kashmiri handicrafts have been set up to facilitate the devotees. A 10-bed hospital has been set up on temporary basis equipped with doctors, para-medical staff, ambulance and free medicines for the facility of pilgrims. Adequate arrangements of drinking water, electricity and SRTC buses have been made. The Minister also instructed District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal for speedy execution of work on development of Tulmulla as a model village at a cost of Rs. 1.20 crore. Minister for Forest and Environment Qazi Mohammad Afzal today interacted with the Kashmiri Pandits and other devotees who visited Tulmulla in connection with the Mela Khirbhawani. He also enquired about the arrangements made by the district administration, NGO's and other social activists for the mela. The visiting devotees appreciated the arrangements and thanked the administration. Saying that Kashmiriat is incomplete without Kashmiri Pandits, he appealed them to return to the valley. Congratulating the Kashmiri Pandits and other devotees on Zeshtya Ashtami, the Minister said that the Khirbhawani mela is part of our glorious composite heritage. He hoped that the occasion would be harbinger off peace and prosperity in the state. He said that Rs.18 crore have been incurred on infrastructural developmental works in the Khirbhawani shrine complex at Tulmulla during last 5 years adding that more would be done in this regard. He said that Rs. one crore would be spent on the construction of sewerage treatment plant at Tulmulla adding that efforts are on to make Tulmulla more attractive and a model village. Responding to the suggestion of the devotees for opening of a super bazaar at Tulmulla, the Minister said that their suggestions would be given due consideration. Minister of state for Health Peer Mohammed Hussain also visited Tulmulla and took stock of the medicare and other arrangements made by the government on the occasion of celebration of Mela Khirbhawani. He was informed that as many as 2000 people were given treatment in two camps set up by the Directorate of Health Service and Indian System of Medicines besides providing medicines free of cost. He was informed that apart from ECG and laboratory testing facilities, 12 doctors including two lady doctors and 16 para-medical staff have been deployed in the camps. A 10-bedded temporary hospital, with ambulance facility, is also functioning to meet the emergency requirements, the Minister was told. |
