| Jugal lays foundation of Rs. 10.72 cr five road projects | | | Early Times Reporter Rajouri | June 11 Minister for R&B, Mr Jugal Kishore Sharma said that government was determined to transform the development map of Jammu and Kashmir state. He sought people’s cooperation for carrying forward the progress and development process in the state by the government. The Minister was addressing well attended public meeting after laying the foundation stone of 5 km road link at Dhanika which falls on Actual Line of Control in Nowshera constituency of Rajouri district, yesterday. He said that the Chief Minister, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad initiated development projects aimed at transforming the socio-economic condition of the people. Minister of State for Irrigation and Flood Control, Dr Romesh Chander Sharma also accompanied the Minister. The Minister laid foundation stone of 5 roads links of 16 km and a motorable bridge costing worth Rs. 10.72 crore benefiting 13,000 souls of Nowshera constituency. These works would connect the left over villages with the main road link and give fillip to economic activities in the region. The construction works include 5 km road from Bareri to Dhanika at a cost of Rs 182.09 lakh, 3 km road from Siot to Khui-Dheri at a cost of Rs. 90.10 lakh, the 3 km road from Pinga-Galla to Marchola via Makham Mohalla at a cost of Rs. 131.52 lakh, Bajwal-Siot road at a cost of Rs. 282.99 lakh and 5 km Katali-Galla to Una road at a cost of Rs. 188.30 lakh. He also laid foundation stone of 60 meters span motorable bridge of 8 km on Bajwal-Siot road being constructed at a cost of Rs. 197 lakh. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Romesh Chander Sharma expressed his satisfaction that the commitment made to the people have been fulfilled with the completion 8 road projects during last five years. He said that efforts are afoot to provide drinking water to left over villages/ hamlets. He thanked the Chief Minister, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad for providing the gift of Degree College to the border people of Nowshera constituency. He said that 40 degree colleges will start functioning during current year session in the state. Among other, Executive Engineers of PMGSY, R&B, PDD and officers of various departments were also present on the occasion. |
