| Rehmat Ali wins Bambyal Kesari dangal | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 11 Rehmat Ali of Maller Kotla in Punjab clinched the 54th edition of the Bambyal Kesari dangal winning the main bout against Vinod Kumar of Chandigarh at Bambyal, 21 kilometers from here. Winner of the main bout, Rehmat was presented a cash prize of Rs 6000 by the chief guest, Kuldeep Sharma, a senior National Conference leader. Runners-up, Vinod Kumar got Rs 5000 as prize money. The cash prize for the main bout (Rs 11000) was sponsored by Kuldeep Sharma. Prominent among others present were Rakesh Khajuria, Devinder Singh Slathia, Rameshwar Dass and Sanjeev Sharma were guests of honour. In all, 37 bouts took place in this dangal which was organized by Bambyal Dangal Committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association. The second main bout between Sona of Amritsar and Abdul Gani, younger brother of Rehmat Ali, ended in a draw resulting into both of them received Rs 2000 as cash prize. Third main bout was won by Ghulam Ali of Maller Kotla, who beat Rana of Kangra in Himachal Pradesh. In other interesting bouts, Chamkore of Madhya Pradesh bt Vijay Singh of Kanjali; Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhalwal bt Kalu of Bishnah; Allah Rakha of Bambyal bt Surjeet of Amritsar; Manjoor of Nagrota bt Bittu of Jindrah; Prem Verma of Jhiri bt Rajbir of Sirsa in Haryana. The bouts between Arjun of Dehradun and Allah Rakha of Bambyal and Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhalwal and Bobri of Jammu ended in a draw. Technical committee members who helped in the smooth conduct of dangal included Bashir Ahmed, Manzoor Hussain, Bishan Dass, Mohd Din, Prabhu Dayal, Pawan Kumar, Nazir Ahmed, Gulam Navi, Sher Singh, Rattan Lal, Jagdish Chander, Madan Lal, Kewal Krishan, Mohd Fareed and Sanjeev Sharma. “Finding wrestling as a popular sport in Bambyal, Devinder Singh, one of the special invitee announced that he will invest from his pocket for construction of a `mud akhara’ at Bambyal with all required facilities. He also promised to pay monthly honorarium of Rs 1000 to proposed care taker of akhara, Mohd Fareed,” president Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma told reporters.
