| Security to be set up along Amarnath | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | June 11 As part of arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra, the Jammu and Kashmir Government on Wednesday decided to set up security camps along the route at Nunwan, Chandanwadi, Sheshnag and Panjtarni. A meeting of officials chaired by District Development Commissioner J P Singh reviewed preparations for the pilgrimage starting on June 18, an official spokesman said. A joint control room to be manned by district administrations concerned will be set up. Boarding, lodging and sanitation facilities will be available at the camps. The Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department will stock 1,460 quintal of rice, 306 quintals of sugar, 91,000 litres of kerosene and 3,000 LPG cylinders. Health authorities are setting up medical units at camps to provide generic and life-saving drugs and oxygen cylinders to pilgrims. Arrangements will be made to ensure water and power supply during the yatra, the spokesperson added. |
