Doda | June 11
Reiterating that restoration of autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir State was only viable and sustainable solution for Kashmir imbroglio, the former Chief Minister and National Conference Patron Dr. Farooq Abdullah today claimed that the roadmap prepared by his party for resolution of Kashmir imbroglio is most feasible and perfect in all respects, adding that entire world is now considering the autonomy as the only viable and sustainable solution for Kashmir issue.
Addressing a public meeting at Doda today, Dr Abdullah maintained that those, who were opposing the resolution, have now realized that there can be no other possible solution to decades' old issue. He said, "I can say this with confidence that there can not be any another viable solution to Kashmir issue than restoration of autonomy to the state of Jammu and Kashmir", adding, "Government of India has to accept our demand and give the people what is best for them."
He alleged that ‘some political parties with vested interest want to see Kashmir boiling’ and they are resorting to unfair tactics by exploiting the people of the state against Autonomy, adding, "The documented solution 'Autonomy' put forth by the National Conference for satisfying the genuine urges and aspirations of the people of the state is well within the Constitution of India."
"National Conference is committed for restoration of autonomy in order to satisfy the regional aspiration and urges of the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their socio-economic and political development," asserted Dr Abdullah.
He maintained that autonomy would restore the people's confidence and would help in bringing peace to the state, adding "If National Conference is voted to power, it will give regional autonomy to all the regions of the State."
Dr. Abdullah said Indo-Pak relations have to be improved further in order to have lasting peace and tranquility in the sub-continent. He said both India and Pakistan should work for creating an atmosphere of understanding and confidence among each other for a long lasting peace in the sub-continent.
NC Patron said the administration should remain impartial and should not play biased role. "People in administration should always play impartial and unbiased role while performing their official duties. It would bring transparency and accountability in the system," Dr Abdullah added.
Taking a dig at Congress led coalition government, Dr Abdullah maintained, "The coalition alliance made tall claims to the general masses at the time of elections but the promises were forgotten after the alliance formed government in the state," adding "the state government in the last five and half years has not been able to perform and live up to the expectations of the people."
Castigating the coalition government for 'anti-people' policies, Dr. Abdullah said, "If National Conference is voted to power the party will implement Public Distribution System on the pattern of Kerala which will include 16 items on the list of the PDS so as to give relief to the common people."
Dr Abdullah said that Congress led coalition government has failed to tackle the swelling problem of unemployment in the state, adding that National Conference is well aware about the increasing demand of employment both by educated and marginal workers. "We have chalked out an employment policy for solving the unemployment problem in the state, which will be implemented in letter and spirit when the party comes to power," he added
"The employment packages would not only be for the educated class but it will also cover the youth having qualification of middle and secondary school, belonging to the far flung areas of the state," he maintained.
He assured, "If NC is voted to power in ensuing assembly elections, the first priority would be to provide employment to those families where there is no government job and then to others." He also assured that NC will also provide stipend to the unemployed youths of the state.
While addressing the gathering, former minister and senior leader of the party Khalid Najeeb Suhrawardhy claimed that NC is not a political party but a movement enshrined in the history of Jammu & Kashmir and had been closely associated in the process of upholding honour and dignity of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
National Conference, he said, till date remains the largest party with representation from all three regions - Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh- and has always stood for the cause of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and their welfare and will continue to do so.
Later, Dr Abdullah also witnessed the final of 4th Bufran Memorial T20 Sate Level Cricket Tournament 2008 at Sports Stadium Doda, organized by Youth Star Cricket Club Doda. Dr Abdullah, who is also President of the J&K Cricket Association, also witnessed the final match between Kashmir Mughal and Bhalesa XI.
He announced an award of Rs 15,000 for the winning team and Rs 10,000 for the runner up, besides announcing Rs 3 lakh out of his MP LAD Fund for the development of sports activities in the District.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Abdullah said that he is committed for the development of cricket in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and was hopeful that one day lads from J&K will reach at national level and make country proud.
He also maintained that he would be keen to see that at some point of time, a T20 team from Kashmir participates in IPL League.
Among others who addressed the meeting included Ajay Sadhotra, Provincial President, Rattan Lal Gupta, Sr. Vice President, Devender Singh Rana, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, Dr. Chaman Lal, Mohd Aslam Goni, Brij Mohan Sharma, Qazi- Jalal- ud- Din.
