Jammu | June 11
DESPITE lapse of nearly a year the announcement made by the Government about setting up of high power employment mission is yet to take off. The State Government it seems has failed to implement its commitment made in this connection last year. The Government had announced that the Planning Minister would head the 6- member Mission.
Reports from the Planning Department revealed that the Mission, which was to be set up for facilitating generation of adequate employment opportunities for at least five lakh educated youth during the next five years, was yet to take its shape. However, the Industries Minister, Nawang Rigzin Zora said that some spade work was being done adding that he had no further details and suggested to contact Planning Minister.
The proposed Mission was to recommend and initiate bold steps for infrastructure development which could open avenues for self employment and create conditions for sustainable wage employment. Another purpose of the Mission was to launch a special drive for creation of self employment opportunities in agriculture, industry and handicrafts, besides cottage industry.
Leader of the Panthers Party in the Assembly Harsh Dev Singh today said that the basic commitment of the coalition Government on resolving the problem of unemployment had not been fulfilled. In this context he referred, besides the high power employment Mission, to the promise of setting up employment kiosks, for setting venture capital fund and for employment of destitute. He said not a single scheme had been implemented.
However, official sources said that the Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, had taken bold initiative by adding 15 more members to the subordinate services selection Board under the fast track recruitment board scheme. The sources said that these fast track
recruitment boards, established in various districts, had finalized the names of those candidates who were listed for interview by the Board. And the interview for teachers and other non gazetted posts was to start from the middle of this month.
