| President AWWA visits Asha school, interacts with students | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 12 Kirti Kapoor, President Army Wives Welfare Association paid a visit to Pathankot today to meet the disabled children of the AWWA ASHA School, being managed under the aegis of 21 Sub Area. Taking time off from her busy schedule, Kirti Kapoor made it a point to be with the special children for about an hour and was visibly moved by the efforts of the children to develop skills to become part of the mainstream society. Commending Deviea Jaswal, President AWWA 21 Sub Area on her exceptional contribution as Principal of the special school, she also appreciated the selfless service of the teachers and staff for running the school in a professional and efficient manner. The Asha School Pathankot is a unique school which caters for the needs of special children and grooms them to become self-reliant and contributing members of the society. The children of the school did themselves proud by winning Punjab State Level Olympics for special children in December 2007 for the fourth consecutive time. The specialized care and handling by professionally qualified staff of the school has resulted in number of children graduating to join the main stream schools and leading their lives as a normal child. The school currently has 75 special children on its rolls. |
