| Create single brand name for seabuck thorn product: Jora | | | Early Times Reporter

The Commerce and Industries Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora has stressed the need for creating a single brand name for the Seabuck thorn products of Ladakh and said that the resources should be promoted and all the retailing should be done under this name.
The Minister was speaking while chairing a meeting of development of Ladakh Seabuck thorn cluster in Leh today. Earlier, the cluster was proposed for Ladakh under scheme of funds for regeneration of traditional industries under which Govt of India through Khadi and Village Industries Commission KVIC provides Rs: 90.00 lacs approximately out of which Rs: 80.00 lacs comes as a grant for Common Facility Center.
Jora desired that the cluster should be implemented on time and manner and entrepreneurship within Seabuck thorn growing area should be developed along with the Cooperative societies in order that the maximum use of machineries and other facilities to be installed at the Common Facility Centre at Leh are made available for quality product. The Ministre also stated that marketing arrangements can also be worked out with Amul Cooperative for retailing of various seabuck thorn products.
It was decided that Defense Institute of High Altitude Research (DRDO) Leh shall be th Technical Agency and one Cluster Development Executive shall be appointed for Cluster who shall b e responsible with Technical Agency and Implementing Agency for preparation of diagnostic study report.
The Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Dr. MK Bhandari, Secretary/CEO J&K KVIB RC Sharma, the Director SFURTI, KVIC, Mumbai, SN Shukla, DFO, Leh Roop Avatar Kaur, Divisional Officer, J&K KVIB RA Qadri Distt. Officer, KVIB Feroz Ahmad., Dy. Registrar Cooperative Tadbar and the officers and Scientists of DRDO participated in the meeting. |
