Hat trick maker in the previous round, S Relang today stunned the star studded side of West Bengal with his match winning performance of three goals to guide Services to a comfortable 4-1 victory thus making it into the final of J&K Bank 62nd National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy in style at Bakshi Stadium, here.
Raleng stole the show with magnificent three roaring goals as he played like a champ to score as frequently as he could for the Services team to keep much anticipated West Bengal team in dismay.
With today’s match winning performance, Relang has become the highest scorer of the Championship with 13 goals from nine outings that also include a hat-trick in the quarterfinal stages.
Raleng was solely responsible for Services' excellent showing not only in today's semifinal but also in the whole tournament. Raleng with his goal-rush, brought a refreshing wave to the whole stadium.
During the first 45 minute half, Services dominated over Bengal and keep the ball rolling within their half. Number 10 Bangal's Tarif Ahmad came along twice in the early part of the game but missed the target. It was 23 year old Raleng of Services again in action in the 24th minute to score a beautiful goal to give his team 1-0 lead at half time.
The excellent ball control of Services boys keep much experienced Bangal in frustration. Favourite side for the final, Bengali's were down again as deep defender of Services team Norgan Lama made a fabulous 35 yard kick straight in to the nets to give his team an unbeatable lead of two goals in 79th minute. Two minutes later a desperate substitute Lal Kamal, scored the only goal for the Bengal team.
There came Raleng to score three goals in a row for his team in just eight minutes to achieve the victory and put an end for Bangal in the ensuing Championship.
Meanwhile, led by Jayant Sen, the 29 times Champion Bengal, had lost the previous final to Punjab in penalty shoot outs after a goal-less draw in the stipulated time.
As per the records in the ongoing competition, Bengal, playing in the group-B of quarterfinal league, drew its first match against Goa, beat Karnatka by 4-1 and again drew against Maharashtra by 1-1 in the third encounter. Bengal was placed second to Karnataka in the group with six points.
The present Bengal team is comprised of four international stars in the side. They are Syed Rahim Nabi, Mahtab Hussain, Tarif Ahmad and Habi-ur-Rehman. The Bakshi Stadium had so far proven lucky for Bangali's because the team has won 1978's Santosh Trophy final and also Bengal's Mohan Baghan won 1986's Federation Cup final over here.

On the other hand, Services team qualified from the Cluster-second played at Jammu with five points and later defeated Tamil Nadu comprehensively by five goals in the pre-quarterfinals. The team got an upset win over defending Champion Punjab in the very first match of quarterfinals league over here and defeated Kerala in the second match. Services also trounced the hosts J&K 3-2 to achieve nine points from three matches to top the group-A. After S Relang, Shaji D'silva is second player from Services to score a a hat trick.
