| B. A Part-I admission starts at Degree College Bishnah | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 12 Heavy rush of students seeking admissions to B.A Part-I course in Government Degree College, Bishnah was seen thronging Higher Secondary School Bishnah from where the college will function initially. The college authorities informed that as many as 106 admissions were reported on the first day. The academic session 2008-09 in the college would be formally inaugurated by Chief Miister, Ghulam Nabi Azad later in the year. Minister for Higher Education, Gulchain Singh Charak who was the chief guest on the occasion said that the opening of admission at Government Degree College Bishnah will not only ease the rush in existing colleges of Jammu city but also fulfill the dream of students of such rural and far-flung areas who want to seek highereducation. He said that it was due to the endeavor of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad that the degree college was established in the town The Minister said that Azad led government has brought a discernible change in every parameter of education especially in expanding the reach of higher education with establishment of 40 new Degree Colleges across the state. He said that the government has fulfilled the aspiration of people of all the three regions of J&K. Referring to the construction of building for the college, the Minister informed that the government has identified 46 kanal of land at Chak Abtara, the work on which will be started soon. Responding to the demand of students, the Minister announced Rs. 7.10 lakh for construction of additional accommodation in the Higher Secondary School Bishnah. For construction of toilets, the Minister asked the R&B authorities to prepare the estimate and submit for funding so that the construction work would be started soon. He said that the present government was making tireless efforts to provide all infrastructural facilities in the newly established colleges across the state. Director Colleges N. D. Wani, Principal Govt. Degree College Bishnah Prof. Ajeet Angral, Principal MAM College Prof. M. S. Bloeria, prominent citizens, students, parents and senior officers of R&B, PDD and Higher Education were also present on the occasion. |
