The post of President for thirteen member RS Pura Municipal Committee went to Congress in a neck-to-neck fight with the BJP candidate with later loosing the elections held here today with one vote.
The Congress candidate Bhushan Bhagat won the election by polling seven votes, while the BJP candidate Vishva Mitra trailed behind by securing six votes. In the thirteen member Committee there are congress has seven members, BJP three and National Conference 1, while two others are independent.
Congress has replaced National Conference candidate who was elected to the post last year with its support. The post of Vice president has already gone to Cong uncontested.
The elections were held with Executive Officer Kiran Bala as the returning officer, in presence of SDM RS Pura Romesh Chander. |
