Senior citizens club celebrates Diwali

Udhampur, Oct 28: Senior Citizens Club Udhampur celebrated Diwali with specially-abled inmates of the "Divyang Sewa Samiti Udhampur". The office bearers and members of the Club including RC Mannotra, Romesh Kumar Sharma, Jugal Gupta, Nanak Singh, Mukund Lal Verma, Chaggar Singh, Kirpal Singh and Janak Singh and Club President Mahadeep Singh Jamwal interacted with the chair ridden Divyangs and their caretaker Mr Purshotam, himself a Divyang. On the occasion Club distributed sweets, fruit and 'Earthen Deepak' to the inmates. The living condition and the needs of the inmates were discussed in detail and urgent need of a washing machine was projected in view of the coming winter. The President of the Club Mr Jamwal without any hesitation agreed to provide it as social responsibility of the Club towards the needy and deserving. A monthly meet with the inmates was decided to inculcate the feelings among this segment of the society that Club consider it to be a member of the Divyang Samiti and will cater to their needs.
On the occasion Club appealed to the citizens of Udhampur that they should come forward to render their social responsibilities towards such deserving segment of the society and Senior Citizen Club is a perfect platform to reach such segment of the society.
