| IGP reviews the security scenario in border areas | | | Early Times Reporter

Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone Jammu Shri K.Rajendra Kumar –IPS conducted and exhaustive visit of the mountainous twin districts of Rajouri , Poonch and Reasi .The IGP was on five days tour to review the security arrangements and to have first hand knowledge about the problems being faced by the people . It was the first visit of Mr Rajendra to these border districts after resuming the charge of IGP Jammu Zone .
During his visit he interacted with the senior citizens Sarpanches, Panches , leaders of various Political/religious parties including all Police officers of these districts and inaugurated the GOs quarters of Police department , FSL building and Barracks of Jawans .
The IGP Mr Rajendra Kumar –IPS held a meeting of all Gos and all concerned SHO’s at DPL Rajouri ,Poonch and Reasi respectively , while interacting with SsP and Dy.SsP Mr Rajendra stressed upon the information gathering ,planning and execution of anti-terrorists operations for better results . He emphasised on upholding human rights and avoid any sort of collateral damage while undertaking anti-terrorist operations . The IGP said that there is tremendous decrease in terrorism , but the same has not finished yet as the infiltration is still going on. He further directed the officers to identify the possible targets of militants and take precautionary measures . Lauding the role of Army and BSF on borders, Mr.Rajendra said that graph of infiltration has come down in view of strict vigil and fencing but all out efforts need to made to neutralise the dreaded militants still operating inside our territory . He directed all GOs and concerned SHO’s to remain alert and vigilant to thwart any nefarious designs of anti-social and anti-national elements. It is time to remain extremely vigilant and alert in view of the forth coming general elections in the state and on going Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2008.DIG Rajouri -Poonch Shri PR Manhas –IPS , DIG Reasi Shri Alok Puri –IPS and concerned SsP were among the other senior officers who attended the meeting .
The Inspr.Genl.of Police Shri Rajendra Kumar –IPS also held a Police –Public meeting at Dak Bunglow Poonch , Rajouri and Reasi respectively .The participants put before the IGP the problems being faced by them .The IGP Jammu gave a patient hearing to the grievances of the Public and assured them that their problems will be taken up with the concerned authorities for redressal of the same. However, some problems were projected by the people relating to Police for which IGP issued on spot directions to Police officers present in the meeting.The IGP directed the Police officers to promptly respond to the public complaints and be friendly with the people. The IGP also appealed to participants to come forward and help the police in order to curb the militancy and crime in the area . People extended their full cooperation to Police form their side . |
