| Two government officials in Vigilance net; cases registered against accused | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 13 State Vigilance Organization has produced challan against Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Mineral Supervisor, Geology & Mining Department Baramulla in the court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Kashmir, who was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.2000 on June l1 last year. Case FIR No.37/2007 P/S VOK U/S 5(2) P.C r/w 161 RPC was registered on the complaint of Ghulam Nabi Dar s/o Mohd. Shafi R/o Gulistanpora, Baramulla alleging therein that Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Mineral Supervisor, Geology & Mining Department Baramulla was demanding illegal gratification for reducing royalty (fees) of his stone quarry. In the course of investigation officials of SVO proceeded to Baramulla and laid a trap during which the Mining Supervisor was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.2000 from the complainant in his office. The tainted money was recovered from him possession in the presence of independent witnesses. In another case the State Vigilance Organization has produced challan in the court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Kashmir against Asrar Ahmad Matoo, Unit Clerk PDD Unit-I, for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.5000 from Abdul Bari Bhat s/o Abdul Rehman Bhat R/o Lachmanpora, Batamaloo Srinagar, the owner of Hotel Peace at Palladium Gali, Srinagar. The accused clerk had demanded the bribe to lower the proposed hike of tariff from 7 KWs to 1 KW. The accused clerk was caught red handed while accepting bribe from the complainant on July 21, 2007 on the court road in full public view. The accused clerk was present before the Court at the time of production of challan and the next date of hearing has been fixed on July 26, 2008. |
