| Keep eye on prices, curb hoarding, black-marketing: Taj to CAPD | | ‘No disparity in supply of ration to rationees in Kashmir, Jammu’ | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | June 13 Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Taj Mohi-ud-Din has said that government was committed to provide essential commodities to the consumers of the state at reasonable rates adding that anybody found involved in escalating prices and indulging in hoarding and black marketing would be dealt with stern hand. He was interacting with media person after chairing a high level meeting of officers of CAPD and representatives of various trade unions here on Friday. He said hike in petrol, diesel and LPG at national level has led to the increase of cost of essential commodities. The Minister denied the reports about disparity in distribution of rations in the two divisions and maintained that each rationee both in Kashmir and Jammu was being supplied 13 kgs of rice and atta. Cautioning the traders of stern action, the Minister made it clear that the government would in no way allow any body to play with the sentiments of the common consumers adding that department has initiated several steps to keep the profiteers and hoarders at bay. He said market checking by the squads of CAPD department and police have been intensified and anybody found indulging in hoarding and black-marketing shall have to face the axe. During the meeting, the representatives of trade unions and associations, including KCCI, House Boat Association, EJACK, FCIK, VCC and Kashmir Trade Federation assured the Minister for their full support to the government for controlling the prices of essential commodities. They also gave their valuable suggestions to the Minister for controlling the price hike of essentials due to escalation in petrol, diesel and LPG at national level. The Minister appreciated the suggestions of representatives of the trade unions and assured them that these would be taken up with Chief Minister and cabinet for consideration. |
