| Sky high prices of essential commodities badly effect poor class: BSP | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 13 The State Samajwadi party secretary general, Ram Prakash Sharma criticized the UPA Govt headed by Manmohan Singh for the recent hike on Petroleum products. Addressing a group of Party’s workers from Jammu city; particularly from Bhour camp, Chatha, Old Satwari etc said that the people of the country: particularly those of lower strata of the society are badly effected due to sky high prices of essential commodities, the recent hike in petroleum products further add to their woes and miseries. Sharma also took state coalition govt headed by Ghulam Nabi Azad, to task for flatly turning down the suggestion made by some quarters to withdraw or for that matter reduce in the rates of sale tax as well as VAT, so that the pressure; built up as a result of hike in petroleum products on the common masses is reduced to some extent. He has also ridiculed CM’s plea that due to scarce resources the state govt cannot afford to give nay relaxation in the taxes, where as only the other day, while speaking in a function Azad had predicted that the state is on the road map of becoming the most prosperous state in the country. Adding further Sharma said that some of the states of India including those of West Bengal and Orissa, have already announced concessions. He urged upon the Chief Minister, Azad to read the writing on the wall and reconsider immediate withdrawal of VAT and sale tax to give partial relief to the common masses. |
