| Governor Sinha yet finalize date for vacating Raj Bhawan | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 13 Governor S. K. Sinha, who has been replaced by N. N. Vohra, has not yet decided on the day and date when he would leave the Raj Bhawan. According to official sources, Sinha has not yet started packing his luggage. Indications are that he may be asked to continue to be the constitutional head of the state for some more time, at least, till the start of the annual Amarnath pilgrimage .He would have wished to stay till the yatra ended so that he could feel satisfied with the arrangements that had been made for the pilgrims by the Shrine Board he heads. If left to Chief Minister ,Ghulam Nabi Azad, he would have favoured continuation of Sinha as the Governor till the end of the Assembly elections. Official sources said that since the Governor has okayed his engagements till June 21, he may leave the Raj Bhawan after completing those engagements. This way he would be quitting his office in the last week of June in case the Centre did not show any hurry in installing N. N. Vohra who has already been briefed by senior central government functionaries as far as do's and don’ts are concerned. There is no constitutional bar on the time the new Governor should take over. It depends on the wish of the central government as far as fixing the date for Sinha to leave the Raj Bhawan. |
