| Sanskrit Association seeks action against former students | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 17 Jammu and Kashmir Sanskrit Association has lambasted some pass out students of Jammu University for maligning the image of the University for their personal benefits. "The Sangersh of sangershies is unconstitutional and University authorities should initiate stern action against these elements trying to tarnish the image of Jammu University", the Association said. According to a statement issued here, the President Jammu and Kashmir Sanskrit Association, Paras Shastri said that some vested interests were using the students of the University to meet their political ends. "The way some students of the Campus, under the banner of "Sangersh", are trying to malign the image of the University for their personal benefits will not be tolerated any more. There are clear indications that these students are also being used by some vested interests to meet their political ends," Paras Shastri said adding that the University in the last five years has achieved new heights under the able leadership of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Amitabh Mattoo Shastri said that on one hand the Patron a political party is announcing in the Campus that if voted to power he will ask Prof. Mattoo to continue to next six years but on the other hand student leader of the same party is leveling serious allegations against the persons who has given new life to the dying educational system of Jammu and Kashmir state. "Our Association appeals to the National Conference patron to clear its stand on the issue whether their party is supporting the so-called agitation by some youths who have already been relived from the University," he said adding that their association has also taken serious note of the fact that none of the issues raised by this group has anything to do with students' issues. Shastri further said that their association finds particularly offensive and completely false the allegation of academic degradation. "This is completely untrue and insulting to the students' community particularly that of the research scholars. It is well known to everyone who cares to see, that academic quality has visibly and significantly improved especially when it comes to research. To take a small example, the performance of the research scholars in the UGC-NET examinations where we compete nationally has been exceptionally good this year," Shastri said Shastri appealed to the student community of the University of Jammu to remain united to give befitting defeat to the enemies of the University. He asserted that no one from any party will be allowed to play politics by using the student community. Shastri asked to University authority to deal with these elements with iron hand. "If University authorities failed to do so, the Sanskrit Association will launch agitation against these subversive elements," he said. |
