| Social activist-cum-writer joins PDP | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 17 Eminent social activist and writer Tahir Khurshid Raina today joined Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the presence of senior party leaders. Welcoming Tahir in the party, vice-president Ved Mahajan hoped that with his joining PDP would be strengthened in twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri. He said that due to the pro-people policies being pursued by the party more and more prominent persons have been joining PDP. He said that Jammu and Kashmir has been passing through a crucial phase and it was hightime to strengthen hands of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti. Highlighting achievements of the PDP led regime in the State, Ved Mahajan Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as Chief Minister of the State has formulated special policies and programmes for the development of the neglected areas. Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Rangil Singh, former Minister and senior leader of the party, said that credible leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has carved out a new path of peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that social activists and eminent personalities of the State are joining this party to fulfill agenda of the PDP. He welcomed Tahir in the party and appreciated him for taking this wise decision in the interests of the people of Poonch and Rajouri. Tahir Raina, said that in the very short span of time PDP has created its own space in the political system of Jammu and Kashmir. He said policies adopted by the PDP were, time to time, endorsed by the successive governments at Delhi. He said that PDP through its policies and programmes convinced both India and Pakistan to initiate confidence building measures (CBMs). General secretary Daman Bhasin, Shanti Devi, MLA and Mahila wing president, state secretary Asgar Ali, state secretary Renu Azad, district president Baldev Singh Slathia, Surjeet Kour, H R Chargotra, Bashir Asad, Rajinder Manhas, Rashpal Billowaria and other senior leaders were present on the occasion. |
