| Higher Education priority sector of Govt: Charak | | Annual Day function of KAWA College | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 17 Minister for Higher Education Gulchain Singh Charak has said that Azad-led government has taken keen interest to make Jammu and Kashmir state, a hub of higher education by opening up new colleges and universities. Addressing the annual day function of Kawa College of Education at Abhinav Theatre here on Tuesday the Minister said that opening of new colleges, universities and establishment of campuses of Jammu University have extended the higher education to the students of far off places at their door steps. He said during the tenure of Azad led government, massive infrastructure development has been made in every section especially in the Higher Secondary adding that this sector has been accorded top priority in the state. Director Colleges Development Meenakshi Kilam, Chairman of the KAWA College M. S. Katoch, Principal KAWA College of Education Dr. P C Abrol, teaching, non-teaching staff members, students and parents were present on the occasion. Congratulating the Kawa management for bringing good results in 2007-08 Sessions, the Minister and asked them to impart quality education to the students, besides introducing moral lessons in the college so that the students are fully aware with their cultural and social values. Earlier, the Minister also visited Bishnah to inspect the ongoing construction work of 6.5 kilometer long Bari Brahamna-Bishnah link road being constructed at a cost of Rs. 6 crore by ERA. He asked the executing agency to complete it before June 30 so that the people of the area do not face any inconvenience during rainy season. |
