| Training programme under NRHM takes off | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 17 A five-day training programme for district level and senior medical officers of Indian System of Medicine on National Health Programme began here today. The training programme is being held under the aegis of National Rural Health Mission through the Directorate of Family Welfare and RCH J&K with active participation of ISM Department of the state. Principal GMC Jammu Dr Rajinder Singh in his inaugural address expressed hope that the trainees would cooperate and actively participate to make the training programme successful and useful for practical implementation in the field so that the health related goals and objectives as set up under NRHM are met with and overall health status of the people improved, thus leading to the formation of a healthy nation with healthy citizens. The training programme was aimed at keeping the ISM doctors abreast and updated with the latest health scenario and health programmes running in our country and to find out various ways in which their involvement in implementation of the National Health Programmes could be optimally achieved. For this purpose, group work and subsequent presentation regarding the incorporation of ISM selector in the implementation of the national health programmes has been included in the training schedule, he added. Dr Singh mentioned about RCH, National AIDS Control Programme, RNTCP, UTP, National Blindness Control Programme, most of which have been placed under a broader umbrella of NRHM launched on April 12, 2005 and are under active implementation in the state. He emphasized the need to work with missionary zeal and enthusiasm to provide solace to the ailing masses. Assistant Professor Dr Dinesh Kumar in his welcome address explained that training schedule and said that 25 sessions would be conducted by experts during the five days of the training program. |
