3-day mela commences at Agharjitto

The 3-day Agharjitto mela in sweet memory of Baba Jitto, a great revolutionary farmer, was formally inaugurated by the Sub Divisional Magistrate Katra Ram Rattan Sharma at village Guni Aghar situated just 6 km away from the holy town of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra on Reasi Katra road today.
The district administration has already made elaborate arrangements like security, drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, sanitation, medical dispensary with adequate staff and ambulance, essential commodities, fire services etc for the facility of visiting devotees during the mela days.
Naib Tehsildar, Katra has been appointed as Mela Officer, who shall monitor all necessary arrangements for the facilities of pilgrims.
The mela is organized every year on the auspicious occasion of Jeshtha Purnima at Agharjitto (birth place of Baba Jitto) who fought and laid his life for the cause of farmers. Thousands of devotees irrespective of caste, creed or colour, from all walks and all parts of Jammu province visit this holy place throughout the year but heavy rush of devotees visit this shrine during these mela days.
Agharjittoo shrine is situated in the lap of Trikuta Hills in village Guni Ghar about 20 km away from the district headquarter Reasi and is a most sacred shrine. Thousands of childless couples visit this place throughout the year on the occasion of every Purnima to pay obeisance and also took holy bath in a natural spring situated near the temple and get blessed by Baba Jitto Ji.
