| Sanskrit education centre inaugurated at Parade College | | | Jammu/ Aug 31,A non-formal Sanskrit education centre was inaugurated at Government Women College, Parade here today. Prof. Vishwa Murti Shastri, all J&K state coordinator and Principal, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Jammu campus was the chief guest and Prof Indira S Rathore, Principal Parade College was presiding over the inaugural function. Prof Kedar Nath Sharma from Deptt of Sanskrit, University of Jammu was the guest of honour on the occasion. The centre is opened in the college with the assistance of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi. In his inaugural address, Prof. Shastri emphasized on the need to preserve this ancient language as it links us with our age old vedic culture. He appreciated the college management for extending their full cooperation for the opening of this centre. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Rathore also emphasized on the need to popularize this ancient language among the young generation of our country. She also highlighted the career opportunities linked with Sanskrit language. She encouraged the students to practice this language. In the beginning, the centre will conduct three month long Sanskrit speaking course for the students of the college. And it will extend the sphere of its activities with the passage of time. Teaching faculty for the centre would be provided by Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan. So far, 66 students have been enrolled for this course and many more are likely to join it. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Prof. Bharat Bhushan, Sanskrit Deptt Parade College.
