| PS Gill takes over as DG YSS | | | Early Times Reporter

PS Gill, IPS, took over as the new Director General Youth Services and Sports relieving Ravinder Gupta.
Ravinder Gupta , who has been posted as Secretary, Sports Council, a post which is purely filled on honorary basis as per its ( Sports Council's) constitution and also to be filled by election, amongst the members of the Council, which he (Ravinder Gupta) is not?.
PS Gill joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) in the year 1974. He served on various capacities, both in the police and civil departments in J&K. Hailing from Punjab, Gill has served as IGP Special Operation Group (SOG), Kashmir Range, Director, Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy, Udhampur, ADGP Armed, Transport Commissioner, in the relatively turbulent times.
An experienced and seasoned senior police officer PS Gill is also chief of the Jammu and Kashmir Hockey Association (JKHA). He was awarded President's Police Medals for Distinguished Services in Police department in 2000.
Meanwhile, All Field Staff Association of Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K welcomed the government decision for posting PS Gill as director general of Youth Services and Sports in order to bring the back the department on the track.
Zahoor Ahmed Rather president of the association said that with the posting of PS Gill, as Director General of Youth Services and Sports uncertainty and total chaos in the department will also came to an end.
He also urged the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, the minister for technical education and Youth Services and Sports Haji Nissar Ali to take an early action as recommended by State Accountability Commission in a well established corruption case against outgoing director as a Secretary, Sports Council. |
