| NCC wins by 8-wkt to enter semifinals | | Prof Pran Malhotra Cricket Tournament | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 17 Led by senior and experienced Ranji cricketer, Kavaljeet Singh, National Cricket Club (NCC) today registered a big eight-wicket victory over over Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) to find berth in the semi-finals of Prof Pran Nath Malhotra Cricket Tournament underway at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here. It was due to the excellent innings played by Kavaljeet Singh his active partner on the other end, Rohit which powered NCC to a big win. For his matured match winning innings of 54 (off 75 balls, 7x4), NCC skipper, Kavaljeet was declared man of the match. Earlier, JCC won the toss and elected to bat first. They could make only 120 runs losing all their wickets in 39.2 overs of the 40 overs match. Anil Kohli and Ranjeev were main scorers who contributed 27 and 20 runs respectively while Vivek Singh contributed 17 runs to the total. From NCC, Deepak and Amit Baloria shared three wickets each while Safqat Baba and Inderjeet Singh took two each. Batting second, NCC chased the total in mere 26.5 overs for the loss of two wickets. Rohit contributed 41 runs off 59 deliveries with the help of four boundries while Kavaljeet made 54 runs. Rahil and Vishwajeet took one wicket each from JCC. Today’s match was officiated by B K Tikoo and Rajesh Dhar as umpires while Raghav Verma and B B Verma acted as scorers. Madan Mohan Sharma was observer of the match. |
