| Do not wait for ministers: Azad tells administrators | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 18 Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's fresh directive to administrative secretaries to perform proactive role and regularly monitor pace of development projects even in the absence of ministers may not go down well with his cabinet colleagues. Azad issued these directives to the administrative secretaries on Wednesday while chairing the high level meeting to review developmental works across the state. Azad's mantra envisages monitoring of fast pace development works in the state ahead of crucial Assembly polls later this year. Azad did straight talking and told his officer not to waste time and wait for the Ministers visit to take review of the developmental works. He authorized senior officers to constantly monitor the ongoing development projects in the State to ensure their timely completion. He sounded alarm bells cautioning them against lapse of funds earmarked for these schemes. Azad said, since assembly elections are round the corner, the ministers could be busier and might not find enough time to supervise each project on regular basis. He said the concerned administrative secretaries would have to be very active and take upon themselves to supervise and monitor development projects under the superintendence and guidance of the respective ministers. The Chief Minister said that constant and close monitoring of projects was necessary for their timely completion and to avoid lapse or wastage of funds. He said the central government had provided liberal funds for development works in the State, adding if these were not fully utilized the government would find it difficult to get similar funding next time. He said he did not want a single paisa to be wasted. |
