| SASB regrets twisting of reports by some sections of press | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | June 18 A spokesman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board today regretted over the twisted reporting of the media interaction of its Chief Executive Officer, Dr Arun Kumar yesterday by a section of the Press. "We wanted to clear certain things and to put forth our point of view to set at rest the controversies being raked up on everything connected with the yatra, but unfortunately again became victim of the wrong reporting", he added. The spokesman said that most of the media persons were carrying their recorders and if they play these again, nowhere the CEO will be found having stated that the Governor is above the Legislature or mulls further extension in yatra. Dr Kumar did not even a single time make a mention of any political party or dignitary during his interaction. A few newspapers have gone to the extent of reporting that the CEO had stated that those 'creating noise now had given approval during the cabinet meeting' at which the diversion of land was discussed, which is totally false, the spokesman added. Reacting to a newspaper comment that SASB wanted permanent structures in place of pre-fabricated huts, the Spokesman said that in fact when a correspondent drew his attention about 'not well looking' toilets though being better than open drench toilets, Dr Kumar said aesthetics of the area is kept in consideration only when permanent structures are raised as is the case in tourist places in Germany or Switzerland. The CEO had added that since the Shrine Board is required to raise only temporary huts, the question of their alleviation or looks assumes secondary preference, he said. The spokesman wished that the Shrine Board hand out ought to have been given some space to put the record straight and hoped that the media will help in presenting all the versions of all concerned parties and the leave the judgment to readers. The spokesman said that the statements issued by the Shrine Board are being twisted to convey wrong meaning. The spokesman clarified that when CEO was asked about the duration for which the land at Baltal has been diverted to SASB, he specified that no time limit has been given in the Government Order issued in this regard except the stipulation that the Board has to construct only temporary prefab shelters. Yet it was reported in a newspaper: "Land Transfer Permanent: CEO"' "We won't return it", in a most provocative manner, he added. |
